Linktree Username Checker
Your Linktree username is the part after linktr.ee/, the link that sits in your other bios. If it changes, every bio that points at it needs updating. Type a name below to see whether a Linktree page answers at that address, then read the rules for changing and losing usernames.
Linktree username rules
| Change frequency | Once every seven days. |
|---|---|
| Length and characters | Linktree's help center does not publish length or character limits; the change form tells you when a name is not accepted. |
| Squatting | You cannot use someone else's name, such as a celebrity or brand, or pick an offensive or unrelated name just to profit from it later. |
| Trademarks | Usernames must not infringe trademarks. In a dispute Linktree may ask you to change the name, and it may be reassigned. |
| Inactive accounts | If you have not logged in, added links or had traffic for 6 months, Linktree may reclaim or reassign your username without notice. |

Linktree search by name
Linktree has no search box for finding people. You cannot type a name on linktr.ee and get a list of matching pages. Each Linktree is a single page at linktr.ee/username, and most people reach one through the link in someone's Instagram, TikTok or YouTube bio.
If you only know a name, a search engine is the closest thing to a Linktree search engine: search for the name in quotes and add site:linktr.ee, for example site:linktr.ee "mia rivera". It only finds pages that show that name publicly. Once you have the username, paste it into the box above, or into our username search to see where else the same handle is used.
How to check a Linktree username
- Enter the username without linktr.ee/.
- We load linktr.ee/<name> and look for the page data a real Linktree carries. A missing page answers with HTTP 404, which we report as Not found.
- To check by hand, open linktr.ee/<name>. A Linktree with links means the name is taken.
- Linktree can reclaim usernames, and some may be held after a dispute, so the change form in your admin is the final answer.
Linktree username taken? What you can do
- Match the handle you use on Instagram or TikTok, with a small variation if needed: mia.creates, miaofficial.
- If the page looks abandoned, Linktree's terms let it reclaim usernames after six months without logins, new links or traffic. Check back later.
- If the username uses your registered trademark, file an intellectual property report. Linktree asks for official documentation such as a registration certificate.
- Do not try to hold names to resell. Linktree's terms treat that as squatting.
How to change your Linktree username
- Open your Linktree admin and go to Account, then Account management.
- Select the three-dot menu, then Change username.
- Type the new username, review the change and select Confirm Change.
- Update your link everywhere you shared it. QR codes made with Linktree's own QR tool keep working; a QR code you made yourself for linktr.ee/oldname needs replacing.
Reserved and restricted names
Linktree does not publish a reserved list. Its terms ban using a celebrity's or brand's name, offensive or vulgar names, and names picked only to profit from later. Trademark owners can report infringing usernames, and Linktree may reclaim the username after reviewing proof.
Tips
- Log in now and then. An untouched Linktree with no traffic for six months can lose its username without notice.
- Use Linktree's own QR code tool for printed material, so a later rename does not break it.
- Because changes are limited to once a week, test a new name here before you switch.
Frequently asked questions
How often can I change my Linktree username?
Once every seven days, from Account management in your Linktree admin.
Can I lose my Linktree username?
Yes. Linktree's terms say it may reclaim or reassign a username if the account has had no logins, new links or traffic for six months, and it can also reassign names in trademark disputes.
Is there a Linktree search engine?
No. Linktree has no public search by name and no directory of pages. This checker takes a username and opens linktr.ee/name. To find a page from a name, search for the name in quotes together with site:linktr.ee in a search engine.
Will my old Linktree link still work after I change my username?
Linktree tells you to update your link wherever you shared it, so plan for the old link to stop working. QR codes made with Linktree's QR tool keep working.
