How to search for someone on Behance by username

Open behance.net/name to see someone's portfolio. Behance makes the default URL from a first and last name at sign-up, so try that pairing if you only know the person's brand name. Behance's own search is built around projects, and a project page links back to its creator.

An old URL stops working after a rename, because Behance does not redirect it. This page does not look up real names.

How to check a Behance username

Type the username, the part after behance.net/.
We load behance.net/<name> and look for the profile owner in the page data. HTTP 404 means no profile uses the name.
Some accounts, such as Behance's own, redirect to another page. We do not follow redirects, so those show "Can't verify". Open the link to see them.
The final test is your own Settings page: edit your Behance URL, and Behance will tell you if the name is in use.

Behance username taken? What you can do

Add your field or city: miadesign, mia-illustration, mianyc. Behance suggests keeping it professional, since clients will see it.
Team names share the space with personal usernames. If your own account holds the name you want for a Team, change your username to free it.
Use the same name as your other portfolio sites where you can, so people can match them up.
If someone is passing off your work or posing as you, report the profile to Behance.

How to change your Behance username

Click your avatar in the top right corner and choose Settings.
Open the Account Information tab.
Click edit under Behance URL and type the new name.
Click Apply. Update every link you have shared, because the old URL will not redirect.

Reserved and restricted names

Behance does not publish a list of reserved names. Its best-practice guide only asks you to keep professionalism in mind when you pick one.

Tips

Since old links break after a rename, change your URL before you print it on a CV or business card.
Behance signs you in with your Adobe account, so your sign-in email is managed on the Adobe side, not in your Behance URL settings.
A short, plain URL is easier to read aloud in an interview than one with numbers.
