Ko-fi username rules

What the username is	The name in your page link, ko-fi.com/name. It is unique: nobody else can have it at the same time.
Allowed characters and length	Not published in Ko-fi's help center.
Change frequency	Ko-fi says you can change your username at any time. Your page link changes with it, and your Ko-fi QR code keeps working.
Names from your other accounts	If an unused account of yours holds the name, delete that account and wait 7 days before switching to it.
Display name	Separate from the username, and can be changed any time.

How to check a Ko-fi username

Type the name as it would appear after ko-fi.com/.
We do not fetch Ko-fi from our server. In our October 2026 test Ko-fi answered every automated request with a bot challenge (HTTP 403), for a real page and a made-up name alike, so the result says "Can't verify" and gives you the link.
Open the link in your browser. A creator page means the name is taken.
The real test is your own Profile tab: type the name in the Username field. If it will not save, someone holds it.

Ko-fi username taken? What you can do

Add what you make or a short word: janedraws, janemakes, janestudio.
If the name belongs to an old Ko-fi account of yours, delete that unused account and wait 7 days, as Ko-fi's help center describes.
Ko-fi does not publish a way to claim an inactive page, so pick a variation rather than waiting.
Your display name can stay the same even if the username needs a variation.

How to change your Ko-fi username

Open your Profile tab on Ko-fi and find the Username field.
Type the new username.
Click anywhere outside the box to save it.
Ko-fi says it can take 1 to 2 days for the new name to update everywhere. Update the page link anywhere you shared it.

Reserved and restricted names

Ko-fi's help center does not publish a list of reserved usernames or a rule for releasing inactive ones.

Tips

Ko-fi has no creator search, so fans often type ko-fi.com/ plus your handle from another site. Matching your other handles makes you easier to find.
Your QR code keeps working after a username change, but printed or posted links with the old name will not.
Allow a day or two after a change before you announce the new link.
