League of Legends Riot ID Checker

We can't check League of Legends automatically yet, so check the name in League of Legends itself using the steps below. Search the other 3,450+ sites.
Tips for a good League of Legends Riot ID
- Keep it short and easy to spell, so people can type it after hearing it once.
- Use the same handle everywhere you can. Check it on all 3,450+ sites before you commit.
- Add a word about your niche (art, games, food, code) if the plain name is taken, instead of random numbers.
- Avoid characters people mix up, like a double underscore or l and 1 next to each other.
- Claim it as soon as it looks available: a name that looks free today can be taken tomorrow.
League of Legends used to show a summoner name. Riot replaced it with the Riot ID, a game name plus a #tagline that is shared across Riot games. Since Riot has no public lookup our engine can use, this page explains the official rules and the steps to check a name in the client. Use the search box to see whether the same name is free on other platforms.

How to check a League of Legends Riot ID
- There is no automatic League name check in our engine. Riot does not publish profile pages that outside tools can test, and stats sites only list players they have already tracked.
- Check it in Riot's own tools: open the Riot ID change screen on account.riotgames.com or in the League client Shop, and type the game name and tagline. Riot tells you if that Riot ID is already in use.
- If the full ID is taken, try a different tagline first. The game name itself can be shared.
- Use the main username search on this page to see whether the game name is free on Discord, Twitch and other sites.
League of Legends Riot ID taken? What you can do
- Change the tagline rather than the game name. A short word or number after the # is usually enough.
- Skip region codes as taglines; Riot reserves them, and you cannot return to one after a change.
- Avoid copying a pro player's name with a new tagline. It reads as impersonation and can be reported.
- Pick a game name that also works on other platforms if you stream or post clips.
How to change your League of Legends Riot ID
- In the League client, open the Shop and select Account, then the Riot ID change offer. Or sign in at account.riotgames.com.
- Enter the new game name and tagline.
- Confirm. Riot says the change is free.
- You can change it again after 90 days.
Reserved and restricted names
Region-code taglines such as NA1, EUW, EUNE, KR, JP, OC1, BR1, LA1 and LA2 are reserved. Offensive or inappropriate names and taglines are not allowed. Riot does not publish a full list of blocked words.
Tips
- Your Riot ID follows you to Valorant and TFT, so pick something that works in every Riot game.
- Friends add you by the full name#tag. Put both parts in your Discord or stream profile.
- Riot also has inactive Riot ID rules, so a name you see in use may not stay that way. Read Riot Support before you count on one.
